How it started. the story behind the first post.

Cold. Wet. Rainy.  Not an atypical day in the Pacific Northwest.  Except for it was August when the sun usually dominates the summer sky. It was also a Saturday after a long week of work.  The last sentence being the main factor in the equation that would lead to that day’s journey.  A similar reason for many trips before and after that day.

Getting out and exploring seems to be a default setting of the human spirit.  Or at least it is for me.  An opportunity to not only leave the comforts of one’s daily routine, but more importantly to experience the places in which we live.  To enjoy the sights and sounds we tend to miss or too often forget about.

And so, on that Saturday, a drive in the general direction of due west began.  Headed to the coast of the Pacific Ocean, but with no true destination in mind.  The drive was full of stops along the way.  Scenic overlooks, breaks to stay caffeinated to help counter the activities from the night before and the rare map check to see if anything of interest was nearby.

The final destination?  Not one, buy many.  The southernmost tip of the Washington coast with an extended drive down the northern coast of Oregon.
